SENT- Falls Creek 2010 (Part 1)

"As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world" -Jesus (John 17:18)

This is how this is going to work: I'm going to go back and study my notes and what not from each day of the week. After I study a day, I'll sum it up on here. So, this year's Falls Creek blog is going to be broken up in sections.

Monday Night- Tabernacle

"My people have comitted two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns that cannot hold water." Jeremiah 2:13

  • People follow, give themselves to, or trust in whatever they think will give them life.

  • There are two things people think give them life, but are broken cisterns:

They trust in things that have no life at all.

They pour themselves in things they think will fulfill their needs.

Ex. Intellect, Popularity, Relationships, Sex, Substance Abuse, Individualism, Pursuit of Money,..

  • When people put themselves in those things they forsake Christ

  • Christ IS Life.

  • Jesus should always our first love because He is the fountain of life.

"That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, "Let us go over to the other side." Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, "Teacher, don't you care if we drown?"
He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
He said to his disciples, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?"
They were terrified and asked each other, "Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!"- Mark 4:35-41

"Jesus went narcoleptic boat rider!"- Andy Harrison

  • Where is your faith?

"If Jesus is on the boat, it isn't sinking, He's like a human bobber!"- Andy Harrison

  • In Jesus there's an overflow of water.

  • Have you forseken Christ for something else?

  • Christ is life....but people are prone to reject him.

"Long ago you broke off your yoke and tore off your bonds; you said, 'I will not serve you!' Indeed, on every high hill and under every spreading tree you lay down as a prostitute." Jeremiah 2:20

"You will also leave that place with your hands on your head, for the LORD has rejected those you trust; you will not be helped by them." Jeremiah 2:37

  • The REAL problem is that we're empty- sex, drugs, and alcohol are only symptoms from digging our own wells.

  • What idols have you set up?

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." John 10:10

  • Satan is like a prowling lion, seeking whom he may devour.

"Go, proclaim this message toward the north: Return faithless Isreal, declares the Lord, I will frown on you no longer, for I am merciful, delcares the Lord, I will not be angry forever. Only acknowledge your guilt- you have rebelled against the Lord your God, you have scattered your favors to foreign gods under every spreading tree, and have not obeyed me, delcares the Lord." Jeremiah 3:12-14

  • God just wants you to ask for forgivness and come back to him.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." John 3:16-17

  • God is forgiving- He doesn't want you to have to suffer the consequences of digging your own wells.

I should probably NOT be doing this right now.

Once again I have waited until the last minute to pack for a camp. The night before speech camp was HORRIBLE and I'm packing for about 5 more days this time....great.

Anyway, tomorrow I'll be in Duncan/Marlow with MARDI! Then, the next day I'll be off to Falls Creek. "Creek Week" is always 100000% the best week of my entire year. Why wouldn't it be? I'll be at my favorite place in the world with my favorite people in the world, getting closer to the Savior of the world!

Last year was amazing! The speaker, Ben Stuart, quickly became my favorite even though he has a lisp. rofl.

The following is a note on facebook written by Cayce Cox:

The wis(th)dom of Ben Stuart. :)

Some of these are serious quotes, but most of them are not. :)
Don't be offended, and please don't try to fight w me about my beliefs.
We can talk, not argue. :)

MONDAY:
Our world is desperate for a leader.

"Sacrifices are like a holy fiesta."

"It's not about height, its about heart.

There are a lot of demons with angel's faces.

GOD uses pain to change your life.

"David was like a male Cinderella."

"...And the disciples were like, 'Jesus! You're back from the dead!...and still very eccentric."

"All attraction is not of the devil, surprisingly."- Josh Phipps. hahah.

TUESDAY:

"We would fold like lawn chairs."

"And the hero of our story, was really on a cheese run."

"Oh, so that's what you would look like if you were stabbed by a triton."

WEDNESDAY:

"I'm a victim! D:"

"You're laughing..and I understand."

"And my wife says, 'Good morning! It's time to go to the Super Slow Zone!' and all I said was, 'Ugggghhh! I HATE the Super Slow Zone!"

THURSDAY:

The point of ECHO groups is boldness in Christ.

Tips for boys:
1.) Lust can lead to sexual sins.
2.) If you take passion meant for marriage out of that, it will burn your life to the ground.
3.) Sex is the last piece of a radical, self-giving puzzle meant only for heterosexual marriages.
4.) Laziness leads to lust.
5.) Your appetite grows for lust. (never multiply horses, gold, or women. it only leads to greed- a lust for power.)
6.) You're not called to fight temptation, you're called to flee it.

When you're tired, you're more susceptible to temptation.

Tips for girls:
1.) Don't be careless w modesty.
2.) Put your security in Christ, not in your appearance.

Be excellent at what is good, be innocent of evil."- Romans 16:19.

FRIDAY:

"You can ride shot gun, but Jesus, don't take the wheel!!"

"I thought this movie would be good...FALSE!"

"I'm pretty sure thats not what happened...AT ALL."

You have plans for your life, but GOD will do what he wants. If your plans get messed up, don't despair, God has an even better plan for your life. :)

"Therefore, I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship."- Romans 12:1-2.

"Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, And whoever is intoxicated by it is not wise."- Proverbs 20:1.

"Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do, and does not do it, to him it is sin."- James 4:17.

"One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts. On the glorious splendor of Your majesty, And on Your wonderful works, I will meditate."

Annnnd of course, picturessss!!!

P.S. Youuu should listen to "Open Hands" and "Here am I, Send Me" both by Matt Papa, who just happened to be the worship leader at the Creek last year. :)

Body Peace.

I can't really remember a time when I liked the way I look; it's something I've struggled with for forver. But it ends now.

I always told myself if I lost weight I'd like myself, people would want to befriend me, and life would be easier. At one point I wasn't eating, but that didn't solve anything...at all, and made me feel even worse.

It wasn't until I moved away from this little world called Marlow that I realized there are very pretty women who aren't sticks. My friends aren't around anymore, but they're still my friends. I realized that the people who care about me care about ME, not how I look because they know who I am on the inside.

God has been showing me a lot and my confidence has been boosted a whole lot since the beginning of summer. It was crazy because on days that I really started feeling down I'd get texts, messages, or comments from friends and family telling me how much I've influenced them. I began to care less about working on how I look like on the outside to others and more on how I appear to God on the inside.

Body Peace is a campaign by Seventeen magazine trying to get girls to love the skin they're in and be the perspn they're meant to be. I signed the treaty a few days ago and painted this to hang in my room as a reminder.

The pledge consists of this:

I vow to...

Remember that the sun will still rise tomorrow even if I had one too many slices of pizza or an extra scoop of ice cream tonight.

Never blame my body for the bad day I'm having.

Stop joining in when my friends compare and trash their own bodies.

Never allow a dirty look from someone else to influence how I feel about my appearance.

Quit judging a person solely by how his or her body looks — even if it seems harmless — because I'd never want anyone to do that to me.

Notice all the amazing things my body is doing for me every moment I walk, talk, think, breathe...

Quiet that negative little voice in my head when it starts to say mean things about my body that I'd never tolerate anyone else saying about me.

Remind myself that what you see isn't always what you get on TV and in ads — it takes a lot of airbrushing, dieting, money, and work to look like that.

Remember that even the girl who I'd swap bodies with in a minute has something about her looks that she hates.

Respect my body by feeding it well, working up a sweat when it needs it, and knowing when to give it a break.

Realize that the mirror can reflect only what's on the surface of me, not who I am inside.

Know that I'm already beautiful just the way I am.

You can sign it at http://www.seventeen.com/health-sex-fitness-old/body-types-old/body-peace-pledge.

I also painted references to some scripture that have to do with appearance.

1 Peter 3:3-4 (New International Version)

3Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. 4Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.

Proverbs 31:30 (New International Version)

30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

Psalm 139:14 (New International Version)

14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.

1 Samuel 16:7 (New International Version)

7 But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

P.S. I've decided mixed media is definately my favorite style of visual art. :)
And I realized that my handwriting is much better when I write in cursive.

Find your wings and soar.

This picture was totally an accident, but I love it. There are several Peacocks that roam freely at the OKC zoo and this is their white one. To me, this picture represents something that's been held back by circumstances breaking free and leaving it all behind. :)
