I Kissed Dating Goodbye.

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book. I want EVERYONE to read it, and my friends shouldn't be surprised if they all receive a copy of it for Christmas. :) I don't want to spoil it for you, but here are some things I learned from it:

  • The whole concept isn't about not dating at all, it's about viewing the whole process in a different way. There's no need for short-term relationships that will end up hurting you in the long haul. We shouldn't date until we seriously are ready to find someone to spen the rest of our lives with.

  • God's perspective of love and the world's perspective of the same thing are totally different. "The world takes us to a silver screen on which flickering images of passion and romance play, and as we watch, the world say, ‘This is love.’ God takes us to the foot of a tree on which a naked and bloodied man hangs and says, ‘This is love.’"

  • It's much better to be friends with a guy/girl than to skip the friendship phase and head straight into a relationship that will ruin your friendship. (I've experienced this one firsthand.) Wouldn't you rather have that person around for a really long time?

  • You need to set boundaries and stay true to them. There's no sense in starting something you don't intend to follow completely through with. You're just going to crave more and more evrytime.

These are just a few of the MANY valid points Joshua Harris brings out in his book. You should go read it right. now. GO, GO! Hurrrrry. :)
